description: <div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p style='margin:0 0 0 0;'><span><span>Stormwater management facilities are best management practices that help slow, store, or allow stormwater to soak into the ground, to help reduce the amount of pollution entering our waterways. These facilities can be above or below ground, as well as structural or non-structural, including ESD – Environmental Site Design practices. MC-DEP’s Stormwater Maintenance and Inspection Program is responsible for inspecting and ensuring the maintenance of all public and private stormwater management facilities within Montgomery County (excluding the municipalities of the Cities of Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Takoma Park), to ensure compliance with state regulations. </span></span></p><p><p style='margin:0 0 0 0;'><span><span>Each stormwater management facility is represented by a point in this GIS layer, and attributed with key information such as a unique identifier (ASSET), structure type (STRUC_TYPE and TYPE_DESCRIP fields), MDE structure type (MDE_STRUCT), Sediment Control Permit number (SEDCONPMT), Approval (APPR_DATE) and Final (FINAL_DATE) Dates, Department (DEPARTMENT), which indicates facility ownership and maintenance responsibilities, and a Status (STATUS) field.
